First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Edgewood Center for Children and Families.
Human Resources Generalist
The first round was alright, but I had trouble finding the right building because HR didn't send an email confirmation. When I called, they just said 'main building.' Anyway, the first round with the HRD went well, and I felt good about it. They called the next day to set up a second round with the team. The second round wasn't as good. I thought I'd meet the team one-on-one, but instead, I was in a small, hot office with all four team members already there. It was awkward and uncomfortable. I didn't get the job, but they said I'd hear back in a few days. I never did. I get not hearing back after a phone screen, but after two rounds and meeting five people, I expected some feedback. Maybe they're still deciding and I'll get a call next week. (That was sarcasm.)
- What would you consider your greatest strengths?
- Could you share your biggest weakness?
- What is your five-year career plan?
Case Manager
The first interview involved basic questions about my background and what I'd bring as a case manager. I was interviewed by 3 people, including the program director, and it seemed to go well. They invited me back for a second interview where 5 people interviewed me, including two from upper management and one case manager. They gave me a list of detailed scenarios and asked how I would handle them. I didn't get a callback after that second interview. Fortunately, I had another job offer, so I didn't follow up with Edgewood.
- How would you advocate for clients in support team meetings within a wrap-around program?
- What would be your assessment if a client was not responsive to you?
- If a client avoids eye contact during case management, what are possible reasons for this behavior?
Clinician
After submitting my resume and cover letter via email, I got an email back two weeks later asking for an interview. I went to the interview where four staff members and one supervisor interviewed me. The following week, I had a second interview. I was offered the job a week after that second interview.
- Tell me about a challenging situation you experienced with colleagues or managers in a previous job.
Residential Counselor
I sent my application and they replied the very next day. I have a second interview scheduled for this week, which will be a 1-on-1. The staff were all really nice and laid-back, making me feel more comfortable. The facility is large and pleasant.
- In your opinion, what constitutes effective communication skills?
