The interview process included several sessions with different people, which were mostly good, except for the last one. In the final meeting, only one director asked questions, and the other director was quiet. The director who did ask questions used many scenario-based questions, but they didn't provide enough background information. For instance, when asked about responding to feedback, I had to ask for clarification on whether they meant positive or negative feedback, and to whom the feedback was directed (team, manager, client, or senior leadership). Another question was about my preferred management style. I mentioned Servant Leadership, but I wondered how they'd judge my answer if they were looking for an autocratic or bureaucratic approach. Many other questions were similar and felt out of place. I also noted that the director's voice was too quiet and the questions lacked clarity. For future candidates, I recommend simplifying the number of interview steps, especially by reducing redundant sessions with directors. It would be better if the final decision was based on a combination of all stages. After completing four stages, it was surprising that one director could solely decide the outcome of the entire process.

I had a great time interviewing for the Senior Engineering Manager role. The HR team and everyone else were really professional, friendly, and open. The process was clear, and I felt like the interviewers gave me good info about the job, the team, and the company culture. It included an HR chat, a talk with the hiring manager, an interview with a senior team member, and a meeting with the engineering director. They kept me updated and I knew what was coming next. The questions were interesting, covering both tech skills and how I lead, making it feel like a real discussion. It was a smooth and fun process, and I have a good feeling about the company and its people.

It was pretty thorough, maybe a tad long, but I appreciated their diligence in vetting candidates. It started with an HR compatibility check, followed by a managerial interview focusing on soft skills, leadership, and conflict resolution. Then, a technical interview covered architectures, best practices, and design patterns. Next, there was a mindset alignment with my potential boss, discussing values and culture. We continued with another managerial session with peers to facilitate mutual acquaintance, and then a further mindset check with the CTO. Finally, they contacted two of my former colleagues for references.
