First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at eCornell.
Marketing
Interview with recruiting then interviewed with team leader. The recruiter did a great job setting expectations for the process and sent questions ahead of time. The leader gave a very clear picture of the state of the business and what the role would entail. I was given plenty of time to ask my own questions and explore topics further in both interviews.
- How have you approached developing multi-channel strategies that maintain brand cohesion across different audience segments?
Program Manager
So basically, the organization is the online education affiliate of Cornell University. They provide online education and certification products to a range of learners. The people seemed very competent and enthusiastic about their work. The interview was an HR screening followed by a phone conversation with the hiring manager.
- How would you get new businesses to partner with us?
Enrollment Counselor
The first interview was basically an informational chat to get to know me and my experience and learn more about the job. It was on Zoom. The second interview was a practice phone call, like one you'd have with potential students, and they gave me a script. I was told that this role involves making about 100 calls a day. They said they'd be in touch early next week, but that never happened. I sent a thank you email the same day as the interview, too, and didn't get any response, even though they said I did a great job. Reading reviews, it looks like I dodged a bullet though. It just seems really rude to not reply at all after I spent so much time interviewing.
- Can you tell me about your sales background?
- How do you manage stress in this role?
- Are you able to work remotely?
HR Director
Started with a recruiter screen. The next step would have been the hiring manager interview, but I never heard back even after following up multiple times. It's disappointing because they say they care about people and are different from traditional academia, but the interview process didn't reflect that reality.
