First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Econ One Research.
Consultant
The interview process had a moderate difficulty. It mainly focused on my CV and fundamental econometrics topics. They asked probing questions about my past academic and professional work, especially concerning data analysis, statistical methods, and research. There was also a case study to evaluate my analytical abilities.
- Could you elaborate on the assumptions of the OLS regression model and their significance?
- Tell me about your past academic and professional experiences related to data analysis.
- Describe your previous academic and professional experiences with statistical tools.
Analyst
First, there was an HR screening call. Then, a technical interview followed, which involved two case studies lasting 2 hours. The first hour was for reviewing materials and preparing responses, and the second hour was for presenting them. The first case study was more theoretical. The second case study involved reviewing a data cleaning program written in SAS, Stata, or R. Finally, there were two more interviews to meet the team and discuss my experience and skills.
- Can you walk me through your research paper?
Receptionist
Found the gig on Craigslist, and emailed back and forth with the current receptionist. Got called in for 2 interviews - one with the hiring director and the overall office manager. Had general questions, just making sure i could do the job. The second interview was more of a personal interview to make sure I meshed well with the team in the office (had 6 people present).
- What's the reason for leaving your last job?
- Are you an organized person?
- What's your approach to handling stress?
Economic Litigation Associate
The initial step was a chat with HR. The hiring coordinator was really nice and introduced herself to help me relax. It was a phone call, and they asked me about my background, my interest in the firm, and my understanding of the position.
- Can you tell me a little about yourself?
- What's your understanding of Econ One?
- What do you know about this specific role?
