First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at EcoHealth Alliance.
Development Associate
I got a quick screening call from EcoHealth Alliance. For this entry level development position, they mentioned that if I moved on, I'd have to create a slide deck explaining how I would perform the job, and then there would be a q+a.
- Can you tell me about your relevant experience for this position?
Research Assistant
It took a while, but I expect that with most jobs. After I was hired, I realize its because there is a small interview team and many applicants. The admin who dealt with me and office mgr asst were awesome and communicated well and made me feel comfortable with the interview process.
- What are your 5-year career goals?
Financial Controller
The CFO was over an hour late for the interview, seeming very distracted and taking phone calls during it. The questions asked were inappropriate, including personal inquiries about my home situation and relationship status. He also mentioned something strange and unprofessional about everyone in his accounting department covering for each other during a Grant Submission.
- Can you tell me about your biggest weakness?
Disease Ecologist Modeler
I applied for this job on Idealist.org in early March and didn't hear back until May when they invited me for an in-person interview in NYC. The interview consisted of a research presentation and a group interview with senior research officers. Since it was for a research scientist role, the focus was all on the technical side, like my qualifications and research interests, with hardly any talk about the organization or how we'd work together. I thought I did well, but they only got back to me in mid-July after hiring someone else who accepted their offer. It was a bit weird they didn't do a phone screen first, but they did cover my interview expenses. I wish there had been more communication between when I applied and when I heard back about the interview, and also after the interview.
- Are you familiar with the SIR/SIS model for epidemiology?
- Have you previously led a research project, and if so, did it involve fieldwork or modeling?
