Marketing Position
The interview process involved a couple of stages. It started with a brief 10-minute introductory chat. Following that, the second interview took place at a location of the candidate's choice, such as Starbucks, where we discussed the job and continued the interview. The company presents itself as a direct marketing firm, but it's essentially a door-to-door sales operation using warm leads. It's important to note that their definition of 'direct marketing' is not the industry standard. The employee structure seems like a pyramid scheme with claims of rapid advancement, though this is unverified. Compensation is commission-based, and the working hours are unusual, typically from 11 am to 8 pm, with a return to the office at the end of the day for team regrouping.
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this role?
Corporate Trainer
This whole thing felt like a scam. Every job they advertised was actually the same door-to-door sales gig, just framed differently as 'phases in their management training program.' What really got me was asking multiple times if it was commission-based sales, and they kept saying no, that it was actual training. It took a second interview, wasting another two hours, to finally find out it's door-to-door sales. They call it 'DIRECT MARKETING,' but you're out there knocking on doors selling cable. The job posting and interview process were totally dishonest and misleading. Be careful not to get trapped.
- What are your five-year career aspirations?
Account Executive
I started the interview process without a clear understanding of the role, but decided to go for it anyway. I had my first interview a day before getting invited back for a second round, which was pretty standard. The initial interview was with the manager, and we covered some very basic questions. I think she was just trying to gauge my personality and see if I was worth bringing in for the actual interview. My second interview was also pretty standard, involving a more detailed look at their program and questions about my previous experience, alongside some typical interview questions. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'm awaiting their decision.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experiences?
- What questions do you have for us?
Management Program
The first interview was short, just asking about my background and future goals. The second interview was a full day, including a job shadow so I could see what they actually do, which is great because I've taken jobs before that weren't what I expected. We had lunch halfway through, and I learned about their business. The day ended with a final interview with the manager.
- Could you tell me about your past experiences and where you see yourself heading in your career?
- How would you prioritize these specific items in terms of importance?
