Marketing Manager
Had one 45 min zoom interview with the Director. It was very casual, conversational and the most relaxed I've ever been in an interview but yet we still covered the main details. Two days later met with Csuite leaders for 15 mins again, relaxed, just a get to know you, nice to meet you, quite lovely. Received offer the next day.
- Tell me about a time you had to handle shifting priorities and tasks.
Software Engineer
Had an initial screen, then a tech round with the director, followed by a take-home CRUD task. The last round involved explaining the CRUD app, discussing design/feature extensions, technical details, basic tech concepts, and some SQL tasks. They offered a salary below the Glassdoor average. I asked about negotiation flexibility in a polite email, and after a week of silence, they rescinded the offer, citing no room for negotiation, which felt unprofessional given my soft approach. The director and tech interviewers were nice though, and the interviews felt friendly.
- Can you walk me through your experience and any cool projects you've worked on?
- Could you explain the take-home CRUD task you completed?
- In the final round, please explain your CRUD app, discuss potential design/feature extensions, go over the technical details, cover some basic tech concepts, and tackle a few SQL tasks.
Product Manager
This was a standard recruiter screen. I found the job on LinkedIn. Then there was a panel interview with peers. Supposedly there was supposed to be an interview with the hiring manager after that, but read my full review for more details on that. I've been through many interviews in my day and let me tell you, this one takes the cake. First off the recruiter screen, this should be a fairly simple, stress-free process. They call you at an agreed upon time, you chat for 15 minutes and see if there's mutual interest. For some reason, the recruiter insisted that I call him at the agreed upon time. Okay, a little weird but I went with it. I call him at the agreed upon time and nobody is answering. Try again. Same thing. Try yet again, still no answer. Leave a message. Many hours later he surfaces and says let's try again tomorrow lol. No apologies, nothing. Okay, so we try again tomorrow, this time we successfully connect. A few days later we set up a panel interview with some of the team. Panel interview goes along, another hiccup. One of the panel members is sick. Okay, no harm no foul. We do the interview with a replacement (much more junior role), standard interview. It was recorded so the original participant would presumably review later. About 10 days go by. Still no word. I get an email from the recruiter saying to expect an email with more information. Okay, that is interesting I thought. Still hadn't met with the hiring manager so was wondering what this email was going to be about. The email ended up being a docusign offer. Okay, that's interesting. They offered me and I hadn't even met the hiring manager. I guess he reviewed the recordings from the first panel interview? Anyways, the offer is very very weak. Like miles below compensation wise where it should be. I ask if there is room for flexibility, the recruiter says yes. Next business day he comes back with a 1.8% increase. Yes you read that right, a 1.8% increase, this is the best they can do. I counter with something I would be comfortable accepting. He declines and then revokes the offer entirely! Guys, avoid this place, it's the minor leagues. Much better more professionally run companies to work with and for.
- What would you do if there weren't enough groomed stories for the upcoming sprint?
Credit Analyst
Had a 2-hour interview where they delved into my work history, education, and past experiences. They asked a lot about my decision-making process specifically for credit analysis. Also, a good chunk of the interview focused on my interpersonal skills, like how I handle working with people over the phone and collaborating with colleagues face-to-face.
