I went through the interview process at ebbo and wanted to share my experience. The communication was good and the interviewers were professional. I was really excited about the team and the role. But, there was a big problem I need to mention. After I finished all the interviews, they sent me a message saying I was the top candidate for the job. I got my hopes up, of course. But then, after not hearing from them for 1.5 weeks, I got rejected. I know hiring is tricky and nothing is ever 100% set, but this part of the process was really disappointing. Companies really need to be better about managing what candidates expect. It's not very professional or ethical to make someone think they're the top choice and then turn them down. It gives false hope and doesn't look good for the company. Just something to consider if you're thinking about working at ebbo. Another concerning thing was that the recruiter mentioned she was leaving because her career goals didn't align with the company, and I would be taking over her role. That doesn't sound great for the company's future outlook. Also, taking on her role plus a lot more for just a Junior title seems a bit telling about the company's situation.

HR called me about 2 weeks after I applied for a screening. We chatted about the role and company, and my background. She then scheduled my next interview with my potential manager on Teams, which was a 30-minute informal chat. The final interview was a 40-minute Teams call. The first 20 minutes were with 2 people at the manager level. This part was straightforward. The next 20 minutes were with a VP, which was a bit awkward because the other two had to leave, and then the VP joined. I didn't recover well from that transition. The VP asked questions not on the job description, so I felt unprepared. I think I could have answered better if I had more time to think and used different examples. But maybe it shows the role needs quick thinking, so perhaps it wasn't the right fit for me, or maybe the process was flawed.

The TA/HR team did a really good job with the hiring process. They responded quickly and communicated well. There were three interviews in total. The first was with the recruiter, and the next two involved three people each. One of these rounds was with the team I would be working with, and the other was with upper management and HR. I do think that if they had grouped the interviewers together instead of having separate interviews for each, they could have cut down on some of the repetitive questions. It would be much easier to take half an hour out of your day than an hour and a half.

The process was super long. They had several rounds of interviews, and I even spoke to the same person twice. It started with HR, then the hiring manager. After that, I had three 1-hour interviews with people from different departments and roles outside of engineering. They also threw in a whiteboarding session where I had to architect a solution. Once I passed that, I had another set of three 1-hour interviews with other engineers and managers. Oh, and I had to do a second debugging exercise. The very last meeting was with the hiring manager again, and he asked me some questions that weren't really related to the job.
