Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Eastman.
Software Engineer
First, HR called to set up a phone interview. This phone interview was an hour long and mostly behavioral questions. Then, I had an in-person interview with 5 different engineers, an hour with each. It was almost all behavioral questions, like asking for examples of using technical knowledge to solve problems or why I want to work there. The interviewers were nice, not like some places. Just be ready for those kinds of questions.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a teammate on a project and how you resolved it.
Software Engineer Intern
This was a pretty standard interview process with friendly people, although at times it was unclear what specific answers they were looking for. Overall, it was a decent experience, but ultimately I didn't receive an offer.
- Can you tell me about your strengths?
Software Engineer
Eastman came to my school for recruiting and only had one round of interviews during which they asked a lot behavioral questions. The only technical question I got was, "what can you tell me about about object-oriented programming?" I had three interviewers, and they were just taking notes the whole time, not really a conversational interview.
- Can you explain object-oriented programming?
