First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Eastman.
Chemical Engineer
I got interviewed at the on campus career fair for a full time position. The first round had behavioral questions which I found to be very specific. The interviewer was nice though. They expected me to use the STAR method. I didn't get to the second round, which I heard was the last one. It was supposed to be a virtual technical interview with a panel of engineers.
- Can you describe a situation where you encountered conflicting theories and how you proceeded to determine the actual facts?
Chemical Engineer
It was a quick 15-minute interview, mostly behavioral questions. The hiring manager was really nice. They asked about my school, what projects I was working on, my extracurriculars, and my research. They really value referrals.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to handle a conflict?
Chemical Engineer
So there were two rounds of interviews, each about 45 minutes long, and each had a panel of 3-4 people. They were all chemical engineers, mostly in management roles like group leader or director. The questions were mostly STAR format, behavioral. They really liked it when you used your technical background to answer, even if the question was about your personality or something else not directly technical. I think they were impressed that I came with a good question for them and a printout of some of my work that I was ready to talk about.
- Tell me about a time you had to push forward a decision that wasn't well-liked.
- Can you describe a project that didn't go as planned and how you handled it?
