First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Eastern University.
Admissions Counselor
The hiring process was pretty fast and I felt at ease. I submitted my application on the website and they got back to me in under 3 days. The interview happened within 10 days. The team was really good at communicating and easy to talk to, which made the interview feel more like a casual chat with some interesting questions.
- What draws you to a role in admissions?
- Is travel for this position something you're comfortable with?
- Can you describe your approach to work?
Research Assistant
First, we check your ethics, then your knowledge. If you can't show us you understand ethical responsibility, you won't get a chance to show us what you can do. We also need to know if you can commit to the requested hours and if you have the fundamental skills for the role.
- Are you familiar with using NVivo?
- Does your personal spirituality prevent you from accepting the spirituality of others?
- Can you commit to the required number of work hours?
Business Professor
I had a Zoom meeting with the committee members. They asked me questions that I had already answered in my submitted documents. One person seemed to be seeing the files for the first time. Most of them didn't seem to know much about the university's resources and came across as cold. When it was my turn, I asked about the classes I would be teaching, but the lead and the others had no clue. I realized the interview was a sham. I asked some easy questions just to end it and move on, as they had already wasted enough of my time. The committee lead said they were in a rush. The retiring member seemed to have trouble with Zoom. I don't recommend this school.
- Can you provide an instance of biblical principles being applied in business?
Administrative Assistant
I sent in my resume and cover letter. Then I had a phone interview with the Director and hiring committee. After that, I had an in-person interview with a different hiring committee from the department I would actually be working in. We also took a tour of the campus and I met with upper management, and then they made me an offer.
- What makes you want to work at this company?
- Describe how you'd handle a crisis.
- Describe how you'd handle everyday work situations.
