First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Eastern Shipbuilding Group.
Mechanical Engineer
They started by asking me to go into more detail about parts of my resume, like my past jobs and any leadership roles I've had. Then they asked why I was interested in this job. After that, I got to ask them whatever questions I had.
- What motivated your application for this role?
Outside Machinist
I had to call them twice every week for two whole months before I finally got an interview. Then the supervisor for the craft came and asked me a few questions. If they hired me, I would then have to do a drug screen.
- Do you have dependable transportation, and can you work extended hours?
Data Analyst
The interview process is pretty quick and easy if you already know someone in the company, especially since the department is understaffed. Most departments are really needing more people. If you get an offer, you'll have to submit a drug test and do a physical, no matter the position.
- How do you handle constant changes?
Welder
First they look over your application, then you do a drug test, and a welding test. If you pass those, then you get a start date. The drug test is a urinalysis done on the job site, the same day as your interview. The skill test includes welding on site and a bend test.
