& Process

I had a brief and efficient interview process over a few weeks via zoom. Since it was a quick process, I didn't visit the campus, but I had really good conversations with the Academic Dean, the President, and the faculty on the search committee.

You'll meet with the Faculty Advisor and some other staff. You need to put together an application that includes a summary of your faith. There will be one-on-one meetings and you'll give a presentation. Be ready to talk about your faith and how you can help students with their faith journey. Make sure you are prepared and feel confident.

The on-campus interview was really great. Everyone was friendly and approachable. My only issue was that the interviews ran late, so I didn't have any time to relax before my teaching demonstration. I felt really good about the position after leaving campus and was told I'd hear back in about two weeks. A month went by (I had totally forgotten about it by then) when the department chair contacted me. They said I was their top pick and that the official paperwork should arrive in a couple of days. I was ecstatic and eagerly checked my mail every day. After another week, the chair reached out again, saying they were still awaiting administrative approval, which was usually a formality. Another week later, I had to schedule a phone interview to address some questions from administrators. All these questions were specifically about my religious beliefs. The very next day, I was informed I was no longer being considered for the role. Clearly, the department chair offered me the job prematurely, before getting administrative sign-off. The mistake wasn't mentioned until I asked the chair about it in a follow-up email. Given this is a Christian college, I'm extremely disappointed with how I was treated throughout this process.

After I sent in my resume, I got a call for an interview. It was about 45 minutes long and the questions were specific to the subject matter. Then they did a reference check, and I got the offer within a week.
