It was a straightforward 2-part interview process. First, there was a resident connection part, followed by a Q and A session. The whole thing lasted about an hour, and I had plenty of time to ask my own questions. I felt pretty comfortable throughout the entire experience. The interview was led by one current student staff member and one professional staff member.

So I applied online for the DA position in Housing and Residence Life and then set up a zoom interview for about a week later. The interview was supposed to be half an hour but it wrapped up in about 15 mins, which they said was pretty normal. It was just two student workers interviewing me, one was the Office Manager and the other a former DA who's now an RA. They asked fewer than 10 questions, and they even typed each one into the Zoom chat so I could see it while I was answering. They were both really nice, and I heard back about the job offer like 2 weeks later!

The interview process was very direct and complete. The site coordinator was really open and honest about what the job entailed. She paid close attention when I talked about my experiences working with children and how they related to my long-term career aspirations. She was also friendly and asked about my commitment level and any recent volunteer work I had done.

Getting a GA position at Eastern is pretty straightforward. The best way is to have a current GA refer you when they graduate. Sometimes you might get a call from grad school, but going directly to the department and referring yourself or others is the most effective method.
