First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Eastern Airlines.
Trainer
The interview process began with a basic phone screen to go over the job requirements. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview at their headquarters in Philadelphia, requiring travel from South Carolina. I was informed that I'd be meeting with six different people throughout the day, with flights booked for late that evening. Upon arrival at the building, I had trouble finding the entrance as the doors were locked and my contact was unresponsive. Eventually, I found a side door and made my way to the offices. I reconnected with my contact in the lobby, was offered a drink, and we discussed the company's growth, especially in light of recent airline industry challenges. I was then taken to a conference room to wait for the first interviewer. The first interviewer, who was the hiring manager, was very friendly and asked standard introductory questions, making the process comfortable. He explained that the hiring process involved speaking with six people and thanked me for my patience. This meeting lasted about two hours, and he answered all my questions. We both felt my qualifications aligned well with the role. He mentioned the next interviewer would be in soon. However, the next person who entered seemed rushed and barely introduced himself. He immediately questioned my qualifications, expecting me to be certified and trained on their specific aircraft, something not mentioned in the job posting which only required generic aviation/airline training experience. His approach was perceived as rude and unprofessional, which completely turned me off. He then stated he didn't want to waste my time and ended the interview, essentially telling me to leave. I was surprised by this and thanked him for the opportunity, wishing him well. He showed no reaction when I mentioned I traveled from SC and offered no apology or alternative flight arrangements. I was fortunate to have booked an earlier flight home myself. Although the initial phone screen was promising and I was even told about a future position that might be a better fit, the extremely poor treatment and unprofessional conduct of one interviewer made it clear this was not an organization I'd want to be a part of.
- What aspects of this role are you least enthusiastic about?
Flight Attendant
I applied online and had a virtual interview over Teams. They offered me the position the same night. After I submitted my two week notice at my employer, they canceled training and I was out of a job. I should have listened to the reviews about this company more before quitting my job. If you get an offer from them, just be careful.
- Why do you want to join Eastern Airlines
Compliance
It was a very laid back interview. They were interested in getting to know me better as a person and seeing if I would be a good fit for the team. Their philosophy is that they would rather hire good people and then train them in the necessary skills.
- Can you share a story about yourself, focusing on who you are as a person rather than your accomplishments?
