The interview process was well-organized and conducted in a timely manner. The HR/Talent/Recruitment team was very responsive and communicative, ensuring no prolonged waiting periods. It involved several rounds, but they were manageable and engaging.

I first sent my resume to a VP I knew, who then forwarded it to the CFO to kick off the interviews. The assigned HR rep was nice and professional, but seemed overloaded and sometimes forgot to follow up on scheduling. I met the CFO first; she was sharp and we discussed my background and career goals. Surprisingly, she didn't speak Chinese. Next, I met a manager who I clicked with and who said he'd happily hire me but thought I might get bored. He also didn't speak Chinese. I was also surprised to find out the company lacked corporate licenses for essential statistical software like SAS. My last interview was with the CFO's assistant, who handled investment relations, risk management, and financial statements. She seemed to be making risk decisions without strong quantitative analysis, which made sense given the lack of SAS. She also didn't speak Chinese. It was hard to believe for a company aiming to be a bridge between East and West that so many managers weren't conversational in Chinese. This made me doubt their ability to achieve their strategic goal. It also seemed their financial health relied more on luck and conservative practices than data-driven decisions.

When you go in for an interview, the very first question is usually, "Why East West Bank?" They expect that you will have put a lot of thought into that question and can explain to them what brought you to their office. It's super important that you're convincing with your response. Seriously, the entire interview hangs on your answer. If you mess it up, no matter how well the rest of your interview goes, you won't get an offer. Also, be ready to talk about the specific division you're applying to. Do your research and understand what you're getting into. If you're unsure about any terms or details, ask. This is another crucial question you don't want to mess up.
