First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at East Bay Innovations.
Independent Living Instructor
I saw the job on craigslist and got an email for a phone interview. Then I went in for an interview with the Director and Assistant Director. After that, they did a Livescan and sent me an offer. The whole thing was done in under a week.
- What are your thoughts on what this role entails?
Community Support Facilitator
I had a detailed phone screening that lasted about 45 minutes. After the initial interview, there were reference checks, and all references had to be supervisors, including from my current job. Then there was a second interview, followed by a CA DMV pull and fingerprinting through the Department of Justice.
- Given a scenario, how would you resolve conflict among staff?
- How would you approach communication with a hostile staff person?
Job Coach
I applied online and heard back about a month later for a phone interview. Then, I had an in-person interview which was about an hour long. Right as I was leaving, they made an exception and scheduled me for a third interview. After that, they did a background check and then made me a job offer. This role could be good for someone new to social services, and having a flexible schedule is definitely a must. I decided not to pursue this or any social service job because the pay isn't great and you need to be in a union to get decent pay nowadays. The government needs to pay these employees better and give more funding to non-profits. There's a lot of work in social services for not enough pay these days. Overall, Easy Bay Innovations is a pretty average non-profit.
- Questions about clients were asked.
Direct Support Professional
After they explained the job to me, I was asked some typical interview questions. The interviewer was pleasant and professional. It was a twenty-minute phone call. I don't have any issues with how it went.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to manage a conflict.
