First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at East Baton Rouge Parish School System.
Educator
It was pretty standard, an average kind of interview. The Principal asked some basic questions to get a feel for the candidate. It was a nice vibe. The onboarding took a while, though, more than a month to get cleared for campus.
- Campus leaders asked some basic interview questions!
Math Coach
The process felt quite impersonal. You respond to questions through pre-recorded videos. You're given a question and then a very limited time to think and respond. It was a bit awkward. The questions were pretty general and not specific to the subject area.
- How would you handle a challenging team member and what steps would you take to support the team?
Graphic Designer
It started with a group interview. Three interviewers were present, two seemed really intense and one was friendly. After that, there was a design project where I had to finish tasks within a set time. Once the task was done, I was free to go.
- Tell me about a time you handled a problem at work.
Elementary Teacher
The principal and gifted coordinator interviewed me together. Most of the questions dealt with how I would handle students who seemed to be more advanced than the norm since the position was for a gifted classroom. They had me describe a lesson plan for a typical English class. I had to make one up on the spot. My interview was only a one part interview, however they usually have people come in a second day to actually teach a imaginary class in front of the interviewers. Since my position needed to be filled in asap, I assume they were in too much of a hurry to carry out the second part of the interview.
- How would you compensate a student who seemed to advance through lessons at an abnormal rate?
