First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Earth Fare.
Front End Team Lead
I had an interview with the Store manager and Assistant Manager. It was pretty straightforward. We talked about salary and the duties of a Manager on Duty (MOD), and how pay increases with the number of days you MOD.
- Can you tell us about your past management experience?
- How many direct reports have you had in your previous roles?
Cashier
I put in an application online for a new Earth Fare store. About a week later, I was told to print an application, fill it out, and bring it to the Chattanooga location because the Hixson one wasn't done yet. A week after that, I got a call for an interview at the Chattanooga store. When I got there, the cashier had no clue why I was there. After finding a manager, she also had no clue. She told me there was no one to interview me. They asked who called me, when I was supposed to be there, and what I applied for. Apparently, there was no communication. So, the first manager said she'd just interview me. After being there for about 30 minutes, she gave me ANOTHER paper application to fill out so she'd 'have something to go off of.' After the interview, she said I'd be a great asset to EF's team, and I never heard from them again. I'm happy I didn't get the job due to the obvious disorganization and lack of communication/professionalism.
- Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
- Describe a situation where you had to handle a very angry customer.
Produce Clerk
The hiring process was super easy. I applied in person one day, and within a few days, I got a call for an interview. The manager talked to me about my background and experience, and also asked about my long-term career aspirations to see if I was looking for a job or a career path. After my background check came back, I got hired within a few days. I was really excited to start, went to orientation, and began my journey with Earth Fare, only to witness everything they stood for fall apart.
- What's your experience in produce, in terms of years?
- Tell me about your previous work history and experience.
- Are you aiming for a job or a career in the long run?
Sales
Trying to get a job here was difficult because they get a lot of applications. The hiring manager is super helpful if he thinks you'd make a good addition. He asks you to call in regularly for any opening and he'll schedule you for interviews with every opening if you want it. The interviews are simple and straight forward. Whatever dept. you interview for the manager from that one will interview you. This is pretty much the only interview. The questions vary per manager, but they are all straight forward and simple. A few typical questions but most of them are relevant and realistic. They ask about your experience with their dept and with the store itself.
- Do you have any jokes?
- Can you share something special about yourself?
