Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at E.ON.
Graduate Program
The interview process included a self-presentation focusing on personal strengths and motivations for joining E.ON. Candidates were also asked to prepare and present on current topics within the relevant department. Additionally, a conflict resolution discussion and its reflection were part of the assessment. The overall atmosphere was very pleasant, with a strong emphasis on company culture and values, which should be evident in the candidate's presentation.
- What is your motivation for applying to E.ON?
- Why E.ON and not another company?
Graduate Trainee
I applied online, then there was a cognitive test, then I was invited for a 'catch-up' call, after which I did not go to the assessment centre. They are transparent about the timescales in which the results of the previous stage can be expected. The interviewer seemed inexperienced and illogical. The feedback after the interview was given, but the reason for rejection remained unclear.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What makes you want to work for E.ON?
- What are your reasons for applying to this programme?
Graduate Scheme
This took from Nov to Feb. We started with online maths, situational and numerical tests. Then a 45-min telephone interview with competency questions. Next, an hour-long technical interview on science/engineering topics relevant to my degree and the team I'd be joining. Finally, an assessment centre which included a group exercise, a business profile test, a role play, and a personal interview.
- Questions about your business knowledge, given your background.
- Questions covering your business profile as you have no prior business studies.
