They were looking for 2 types of analysts, one for regulatory issues and the other for trading. The interview focused on my experience and skill-set, with minimal redundant soft questions. They wanted me to present take-home projects. It took too long though, and I ended up getting an offer from another company, so I didn't continue to the next rounds.

I applied for this job in Germany/Düsseldorf in August 2012. I had a 30-minute phone interview in early September 2012 with the hiring manager and HR. We discussed my CV, experience, interest in the job, and reasons for relocating from GB. They also asked about my salary expectations or current salary. I was invited for a second, in-person interview in Düsseldorf in early October 2012. My travel and expenses were reimbursed about five weeks later. The 2.5-hour interview included the same people from the phone call plus two team members for 30 minutes. I had to go over my professional background twice and answer competency-based questions, like how I'd handle a disagreement with my manager. The HR representative asked personality questions: my best/worst traits, why I want this job/company, and my expectations. The team members asked about teamwork, sharing their daily tasks and my experiences in return, in an open, reciprocal exchange. The atmosphere was very good. After weeks of follow-up, I was asked to fly back for a final round with the hiring manager and their manager, the Head of Department. They booked a hotel and I bought my flight ticket. Before the trip, I received a link to an external provider for a personality and attitude assessment, the results of which were not shared with me. The third interview was in early December 2012 and lasted about 1.5 hours, conducted at a fast pace. First, the hiring manager and I discussed the assessment results point by point. Then, the Head of Department joined for about 30 minutes and asked many professional and general questions, like why colleagues enjoy working with me and why they might have difficulties. I also asked her questions. We finished reviewing the assessment results quickly with the hiring manager. The hiring manager mentioned an external hiring freeze but wanted to bring someone new into the team, which was resistant to change despite current market/legal needs. I was told I'd receive an offer or rejection soon. Following up, HR sent an automated rejection on January 3, 2013. My HR contact confirmed that one of the two positions had been filled internally, and due to reorganizations, the second position was canceled, so no one was hired. I was still awaiting expense reimbursement as of January 15, 2013. Apart from the initial phone interview asking for my current salary, benefits and salary were never discussed.

I had 3 interviews total: the first was on Teams, the second was in person where I had to do some tests (Excel, PowerPoint, interaction), and the last one was in English with the manager. I found the people I interviewed with to be very friendly, prepared, and serious.
