First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at E! Entertainment Television.
Digital Video Coordinator
It was about a 30 minute interview. Very conversational, there weren't many "traditional" interview questions asked. Seemed to care more about getting to know me and my personality. They did want to see examples of my work during the interview.
- Can you show us any examples of your social media abilities?
Intern
You have to wait weeks if not months to hear a response back. You're often left in the dark and don't know where you stand in the process. The interview was conducted online. It was a digital pre-screening interview where you're asked a couple of questions on a timed recorded interview. If you don't answer a question on time, you're still cut off.
- Can you tell me about some shows you watch?
Researcher
I applied for the Researcher position through EntertainmentCareers.net, and my Membership gave me a 1-day advantage. Within a couple of weeks, I was invited for a single in-person interview directly with the Department Manager, bypassing HR. The interview focused on my experience with various research tools such as LexisNexis. Interestingly, my knowledge of film, TV, or music didn't seem to be a factor, even though the role is entirely focused on celebrity news. It seems other researchers hired came from academic backgrounds rather than the entertainment industry.
- Are you familiar with performing Boolean searches?
- Can you tell me about your experience using research tools like LexisNexis?
Production Coordinator
The whole thing took about 6 weeks. I applied directly to a contact I hit up on LinkedIn and after that, we had a Skype interview because I wasn't in LA yet. Then they offered me the job, I said yes, and started 2 weeks later.
- What skills and values could you bring to this team?
