I had a video call with an HR person. I did not move past the first round. They did not follow up with me to tell me I did not move on until I'd sent two follow up emails.

I applied for a job at Dynamic Events in mid-November 2018. It took about 3 weeks for the hiring manager to review applications and get back to selected candidates. I was asked to answer some essay-style questions and submit them by a deadline that was two days before I even received the email. I sent my answers about a day after getting the email, with the hiring manager's okay, and had a phone interview two weeks later after Christmas. The phone call went really well! The hiring manager was very kind and personable, and we seemed to connect. A few days later, I received an email asking me to come in for an in-person interview with the People team. I went for the in-person interview in mid-January. That interview also went very well, and I was excited about the position's direction and the company culture. The People team also seemed to like me and said they would let me know the next steps in four days. As usual, I sent thank-you emails within 24 hours to the hiring manager, expressing my enthusiasm for the position and that I was looking forward to hearing back. Four days passed, and there was no call or email. This isn't uncommon in recruiting, so I wasn't too worried until two weeks went by. By then, I figured they had found their top candidate and were moving forward with them. Good for them! Then, three weeks passed, and I received a call from the hiring manager asking if I was still interested. I said yes, and she said, 'Okay, good! Sorry, we've just been so busy. I'll email you early next week with the next steps.' Nearly two months later, I've never received a response, not even a 'Thank you, but we're going in a different direction.' It was a bit misleading to be told twice that Dynamic Events wanted to move forward but never be contacted, especially since I had sent emails about the application status. Not a word back. The company seems interesting and has a lot of potential. However, their hiring practices are ineffective, and communication needs significant improvement. This might be because they are a self-governed team and don't have a fixed hiring process yet. My advice to the People team: you are the candidates' first impression of the company. It's not a huge deal that you haven't streamlined your processes yet. But for the sake of Dynamic Events' reputation, please communicate with your candidates. Every company gets busy, and things come up; everyone understands that! However, it's not acceptable to leave your candidates hanging for several months.

The process was okay, though I was a bit taken aback by its length. I believe I went through about three phone interviews before finally getting to a face-to-face meeting. For the in-person part, it was a panel interview, and not just a regular one, but a 'rotating' panel. They actually invited everyone in the company to join, and people were constantly coming and going throughout the entire interview.

I sent in my application online and heard back via email within a day to schedule a phone screen. After that, I had a Skype interview with the team. The Skype part was a bit chaotic, with people popping in and out of the video.
