Behavioral Technical Other

The interview process was quite easy and pleasant. The interviewer was professional and asked typical aviation HR questions. After the HR part, we discussed the position more, and she answered my questions about the role even though she wasn't a pilot there. She also gave an honest rundown of the day-to-day, which was appreciated because it didn't feel like they were just trying to sell the job. At the end, the HR person said it went well and they wanted me to visit the facility for the next steps. They promised an email with details that day, but it never came. This was confusing after such a promising interview, but maybe it's for the best. It seems like a close-knit, community place to work.

The interview involved a simulator session where I had to navigate from one airport to another in an IFR non-radar environment. It was pretty straightforward if you know your IFR procedures and scan well. I had to perform an ILS approach with the published missed procedure. I didn't have to do the hold because I explained how I would enter it to the interviewer.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Can you simulate an IFR non-radar environment flight between two airports?
  • How would you handle an ILS approach including the published missed procedure?
  • Describe your process for entering a hold.

Sent my resume and quals to the recruiter and got considered. Went to Sarasota for a meeting with the op manager there. Passed that. Then, scheduled for a second interview at the main office in Bridgewater with the chief pilot. The first part was to fly an IFR route on their Elite PI-135 simulator. I failed because I don't have experience with it and overcontrolled. That was the end of the interview. Everyone was nice.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Successfully fly an IFR route on the simulator.
