First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dwell Design Studio.
Designer
Communication was bad throughout. They'd suggest an interview, then not do anything for a while until I followed up. After the interview, no contact until they randomly offered me a job three months later.
- What about your previous work experience can you share?
Architectural Designer
I had an interview scheduled before I graduated in Spring 2020, right before the COVID-19 pandemic. I started looking for a job again in March 2021 and reached out. They contacted me for a phone interview at 7pm, but only let me know at 4:30pm via email, so I had very little time to prep. The interview went well, and I was invited to their office, but without any info on what to expect. I thought it would be an office tour, but it turned out to be a group interview. They were supposed to get back to me by a certain date, but that has passed and I haven't heard anything.
- Regarding a commercial central Revit file with multiple simultaneous users, are you able to work efficiently with a team?
- What website resources do you utilize for building Revit experience?
- Could you describe the depth of a typical floor system?
Urban Planner
The interview was a 2 part process. First was a phone interview where the principal spent a good deal of time describing the position and getting to know my professional background. Second was an in-person interview with several of the office professionals. This interview focused on showing me exactly what type of work I would be doing and showing me the office. The people in on the interview asked a variety of questions to gauge personality, skill set, and ability to adapt to new types of work.
- Regarding this site schematic, how would you proceed and what initial actions would you take to gather the necessary information for the feasibility study?
Conceptual Designer
Had a quick phone call with the recruiter, who had some connection issues. He asked some basic questions and gave me a few chances to ask about the company. He mentioned they'd be in touch by the end of the week, but it actually took about 2.5 weeks to hear back.
- Can you describe your experience in your current role?
- What makes you want to apply for this job?
- What salary are you looking for?
