Behavioral Presentation Case Technical

I went through the interview process for an Account Exec position, which lasted about 7 weeks in total. There were 6 interviews: 3 with people at my level from different departments, then 3 more with management. The interviews with management included a chat with the Sales Manager, then a joint presentation and mock sales call with the Sales Manager and the Director of Customer Success, and finally an interview with the Director of Sales. Communication was pretty sparse throughout this lengthy process. After the final interview, I didn't hear anything for almost 3 weeks, so I had to reach out to the recruiter to find out if an offer was being made. My main issue isn't with the outcome, but rather the duration of the process (interviews spread over 4.5 weeks, followed by 3 weeks of silence before any feedback) and the lack of transparency. Both the recruiter and the sales manager had implied an offer was imminent, and I was really enthusiastic about the opportunity. The final interview was a bit jarring; the interviewer seemed irritated and questioned some points that had been confirmed earlier in the process. I suspect the sales manager's departure (either resignation or termination) shortly after my final interview, indicated by bounced emails, disrupted the hiring process. This silence, and likely his absence, affected things. I'm posting this review after waiting over 2 months to avoid speculation, but it seems my suspicions about the sales manager leaving are correct. The job posting was quickly removed after I was told Dutchie was 'going in a different direction,' and I haven't heard of anyone being hired. My best guess is that the sales manager was let go, and they either promoted someone internally or decided not to fill the role. This whole interview ordeal felt like a waste of time, involving tens of hours on calls and extra time preparing a presentation and mock sale, only for Dutchie to withdraw the posting and hire no one. Had they been upfront about withdrawing the posting or considering internal candidates early on, I would have been disappointed but would have respected their honesty and maintained a positive relationship for future opportunities. Instead, after 2 months of interviews across departments, a presentation, and a final interview with the Director of Sales, I was told I wasn't a good fit. A bit of honesty and empathy would have gone a long way; why burn a bridge like that? I don't normally write reviews, especially when I didn't get an offer, but this wasn't about sour grapes. It was about the excessive time, poor communication, and lack of consideration. They led me (and likely others) to believe a role was available and took me all the way through the process. In hindsight, it might be a good thing I didn't end up working for Dutchie, as it might have been a difficult experience. Overall, a negative experience with Dutchie and its leadership.

Behavioral Technical Other

The first recruiter call was fine. Then I had an interview with a sales manager, which was super unprofessional and unprepared. They seemed to have forgotten about our meeting as I waited 20 minutes on Zoom. I had to reach out to the recruiters to see what was up. The manager eventually showed up on their phone camera, putting on a hoodie, and didn't even mention being late. They just asked me to talk about myself. They questioned my lack of cannabis industry experience, even though I never said I had any. They told me I needed to study up for the next interview because I'd be tested on industry knowledge I don't have, without giving any resources. I asked about key qualities, and they seriously emphasized being on time for meetings, despite being 20 minutes late for our interview. I tried to give feedback to the recruiter after, but they cut the process short.

I was interviewing with Dutchie for about 3 and a half months, and their schedule kept changing and communication was rough. They were unclear about their new standards and what they were looking for. I got great feedback after each interview from different people, but after 5 rounds, the recruiter told me I didn't get the job because I lacked industry experience. This was super disappointing because it was never brought up before, and when I asked, they said it wasn't an issue. I hope Dutchie becomes more organized as they grow.
