Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dutch Wonderland.
Ride Operator
I had a one-on-one chat with a Dutch Wonderland HR supervisor. They asked about my previous jobs and if I like working with people. It was super quick, just a few minutes.
- Are you someone who likes working outdoors?
Games and Retail Associate
It was pretty fun, not a group interview per se, but they had us in a group first in a room and then they talk to all of you for a bit. I didn't have to stand up and answer questions because they put the tables down, but normally each person has to stand up and answer 5 questions about themselves (I saw them on the board). The first part of the interview is to see what position you'd like. They mainly ask you about yourself, and then sit you back down. There's a separate interview for the position you want, with the head of that department. For the most part, the interview questions are about yourself. They were very understanding that it was my first interview and quite fun. The atmosphere was very happy, and they tried to make you feel less nervous. Most people applying were teens, and I don't think anyone I went in with didn't get a job.
- What would you do if you had a customer who was angry?
Food and Beverage
We started with a short group session to get everyone settled in and talk about the company. After that, it was one-on-one interviews. The first set of one-on-ones were more general interview questions. If they liked you, the next step was a one-on-one with someone from the department. They made an offer at the end.
- Tell me about your favorite restaurant.
Food & Beverage
You go to the HR office and start with a group interview. Then, they do individual interviews, calling people back in the order they arrived. It felt relaxed, and everyone was really nice and tried to make you feel comfortable. They asked basic situational questions.
- What would you do if a customer was unhappy?
