Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Duke Energy.
Intern
I had a panel interview with 2-3 engineers from the department. After the interview, I heard nothing back. I sent thank-you notes and followed up multiple times, as they suggested they would let me know by a certain date. Months after the interview, I eventually got an automated rejection. It was really unprofessional and a huge waste of my time.
- Can you share an experience where you faced a challenge or team conflict, and what lessons you took away from it?
Intern
I got an email to schedule an interview and could pick a time within a week. It was an online interview with behavioral questions and questions based on my resume. The interviewers were very awkward, and it felt like it was a waste of their time to be conducting the interview.
- Can you tell me about your past experiences?
- How do you handle team conflicts?
Intern
The interview process included about 9 questions about your work ethic and how you solve problems. You'll be asked to discuss prior experiences, like from a job, project, or club. Also, you should describe your interest in the position and what you hope to gain from the experience.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered difficulties collaborating with individuals from different departments or teams, and what steps did you take to enhance the collaboration and the final outcomes?
- Describe your work ethic.
- How do you approach problem-solving?
