First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at dSPACE.
Python Developer
The process was very organized and friendly. There was an initial brainstorming session about the job. Some smaller programming tasks were given. I got to meet the team. They showed me some hardware and software. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with relatively easy challenges. We had results-oriented discussions about the initial tasks.
- How would you solve this programming task.
Radar Technician
The interview involved a team leader, quality manager, and HR. It went well overall; the technical questions were straightforward and pertinent. The technical interviewers were friendly and professional. However, the HR representative was somewhat assertive and dictated the interview's pace quite rigidly, which felt uncomfortable.
- Can you tell me about the limitations of Doppler speed?
- Could you explain some concepts related to FMCW signal processing?
- What is your experience with specific RF simulation tools?
Technical Support Engineer
I first spoke with a company employee at a career fair. About two weeks later, HR reached out to set up an interview, which was scheduled for another two weeks after that. The interviewer was the team lead for the role I was applying for. The interview started a bit unusually; the interviewer went into detail about the company and team's work, which I already knew. I wasn't sure when to jump in, so I discussed my research and projects that aligned with what he was saying at that moment. I'm still unsure if that was the right approach. They also asked some behavioral questions. The interviewer took notes while I spoke. Towards the end, the interviewer gave me a tour of the testing facility and introduced me to the team. I felt I could have handled some answers better, especially the behavioral ones. However, I was quite fatigued from numerous interviews prior, and it felt repetitive to explain the same things again. I also got the impression the interviewer doubted my interest in testing. My question about work-life balance might have been misinterpreted. A second interview with the team lead, director, and HR was planned, but I wasn't selected to move forward.
- Is testing something you are interested in doing?
- What motivates your interest in working within the automotive industry?
- Can you share an experience where you were responsible for testing something?
Application Engineer
It started with an introduction, and then they asked for some details from my CV. After that, we discussed my projects and previous work experience. The interviewer wanted to know more about my projects, like my understanding and how I approached them. Then, we talked about my education, asking about my favorite college courses and what I learned from them. They also asked me specifically about the differences between CAN Bus and Lin Bus, and about my understanding of HIL and dSPACE.
- Tell me about how you approach your projects.
- Could you explain the differences between CAN Bus and LIN Bus?
- What is your knowledge of HIL and dSPACE?
