Store Manager
I went through 2 interviews. The first was with the district leader, and the second was with the regional leader. They asked pretty standard questions about my management style and past changes I'd implemented. The district leader talked a lot about herself and her accomplishments, which in hindsight, was a red flag. My focus is more on the team and our collective achievements, not individual accolades.
- Can you describe a time you faced a situation with potential for significant damage and how you resolved it in detail?
- Tell me about a specific instance where you had to turn around a difficult situation and the steps you took.
Assistant Store Manager
I walked in and introduced myself with my resume. I got an on the spot interview with the manager. She then set me up with an interview with the district manager a few days later, meeting her at a store. The interview lasted about half an hour and included the usual questions like "why do you want to work here" and "what are your strengths". She told me about the culture, which is very credit card selling oriented. It seemed a bit of a stuffy environment for me as I prefer a younger demographic and a hipper atmosphere.
- Can you describe a situation with a challenging customer and how you successfully resolved it?
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer and how you changed the situation to be positive.
Assistant Store Manager
The hiring manager reached out and scheduled a second interview with a Director-level person. They asked typical interview questions that are open-ended. There were also questions about personality, how I handle stress, and dealing with difficult customers. I brought a copy of my resume just in case. I got the offer within a week. Always negotiate offers, don't accept immediately.
- What inspires your style or fashion choices?
