I applied for the job through LinkedIn and heard back within a few days. After that, I was given an assessment to finish, followed by an interview with the hiring manager.

There were 3 interactions. The first one was over the phone. The second was on Google Hangouts and it was a really good, free-flowing conversation. The third was in person with the VP and a director, and they asked standard interview questions like about strengths, weaknesses, and workplace scenarios.

The interviews were both zoom calls. Since I was a customer for 8+ years, I had opinions on the user experience and product offering, and on cloud computing/hosting services marketing and sales. I brought this up in the interview hoping it would help me get the job, but it backfired. The hiring manager didn't seem to know much about the UI/UX customers use; he was disconnected from the customer experience. It was clear they just wanted a pixel-pusher, not a designer who challenges UX thinking. I wasn't offered the job.
