I had just one interview with the Principal Recruiter, who I believe is the only person with that title at the company. He was quite strange during the phone call, coming across as rude, uninterested, and even sarcastic. This left a really bad impression of the company, especially since he was my first contact at Dragos. I didn't even bother following up, even though I was desperate for a job and usually would. It's a shame, he's probably put off a lot of people.

I applied on LinkedIn and heard back from the recruiter pretty quickly. We had a call, and then it went silent for about a month. I kept emailing for updates, and they kept saying things were moving, that a call would be scheduled soon, that the team was busy, to hang tight, and that they were pushing my info. It felt like I was being strung along. After 4 weeks with no progress, I finally asked for a status update so I could move on. They told me they'd already picked their top candidates weeks ago and were in the final stages. Total waste of my time – wish they'd just communicated like adults.

The whole thing took about 2 months. The recruiter kept saying they'd give me an update and then ghosted me for days, sometimes weeks. There were two rounds of interviews. The first one, with the hiring manager, was a pain to schedule and got pushed back once even after we confirmed the date. The second round was supposed to be back-to-back with two engineers. One of them bailed last minute and just joined the other interview without telling anyone. Seriously, scheduling was a mess. But the interviews themselves went fine. I got good vibes, and the recruiter promised a quick update. Then, poof, they disappeared again. After I chased them down, I finally got a rejection. They wouldn't say why, just that they hired someone else. They said they liked my skills, but apparently, there were no openings anymore. Weirdly, the job I applied for is still up on their careers page 10 days later, and so is a junior role I was open to, which they also said was filled. It really feels like they don't want me but won't tell me the real reason. Being non-binary, I can't help but wonder if it's about their D&I stuff. Honestly, the whole process lacked integrity.

The interviews were pretty straightforward, felt more like relaxed technical chats. My recruiter was great, keeping me in the loop constantly. I had 3 interviews total: one with the recruiter, one with the hiring manager, and a final one with two department managers. The whole thing took about a month, mostly due to the company going through some growing pains and tweaking the role. It worked out though, I got an offer and accepted. They were really upfront about everything, and I felt comfortable the whole time. I even mentioned I was pregnant and would need leave, and they were totally cool about it, congratulated me, and sent the offer.
