The whole process kicked off with HR screening, then I chatted with the hiring manager, followed by a team panel interview. After that, there was a take-home project with a review, and it all wrapped up with a final chat with one of the founders. Overall, they laid out the process really clearly and it was easy to follow!

The interview process spanned three days. Day one involved a 30-minute introductory meeting with the engineering manager, who discussed doxy.me's work and the open role. Being from the US, I initially found it took some time to grasp cultural differences in the interview process given the significant presence of the engineering team in Ukraine. This initial chat was pretty standard, and I was keen to proceed. The second day featured a 90-minute technical interview with two team leads, comprising 60 minutes for technical questions and 30 minutes for a coding challenge. The challenge was algorithmic, so a solid understanding of efficient object and array manipulation is key. It was tough, but the main goal wasn't necessarily completing it, but demonstrating my problem-solving approach. The technical questions were quite broad, touching on various high-level concepts in Javascript and React. The third day consisted of three 30-minute meetings with different team leads, primarily to assess cultural alignment and teamwork potential. I eventually got and accepted the job offer.

I had two interviews for this position. The first was a recruiter screening, and the second was a more detailed chat with the hiring manager. The second interview was about a week after the first. The hiring manager said I'd get info on what's next by the end of that week. When I didn't hear anything, I followed up mid the next week to ask about the status. I didn't hear back for another three weeks. Almost a month after my first interview, the hiring manager emailed to say the job was on hold, but they'd keep my resume for the future. This whole process was unprofessional and didn't respect my time. They should be more upfront about hiring freezes sooner.

I talked to the recruiter about the job and my experience with video platforms, and it felt like I was moving forward. A few days later, I got an email saying they were hesitant because I'm in NJ, unless I'd move to NY. I said I could relocate, as I mentioned on my application, but then heard nothing. I emailed the recruiter a few days later for an update and still no reply. The first recruiter call was fine, but then they just ghosted all my follow-ups. It was unprofessional; I would have preferred a simple 'not moving forward' response.
