First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Downtown Dog Lounge.
Assistant Manager
We had about 2 interviews in person and maybe 2 phone/virtual ones. They asked pretty straightforward questions, but they wanted clear answers. There was also a park test and a 30 day trial period.
- Can you share an instance where you managed a difficult employee and how you resolved the situation?
Concierge
It was a relaxed, casual, and friendly interview. After a few questions, we went on a tour of the place. It felt welcoming and exciting. There were a lot of dogs and staff around, and it was loud. Everyone seemed happy to be there.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
Dog Evaluator
The interview was pretty easy and basic. But the problems started after it. I got a job offer for a different role, and when I asked about it, they told me I applied for the evaluator position. I asked which job they were offering, but they never replied. Then, weeks later, I got a rejection email. I thought it was really rude and unprofessional.
- Tell me about your dog handling experience.
Store Manager
I was really excited to interview for the Store Manager role at Downtown Dog Lounge. My love for animals and my background in operations leadership seemed like a great fit for helping build the company culture. The interview process spanned over three days and involved more than six hours of interviews. It felt like they really liked me, but then they never followed up. No call, no email, nothing. It was super confusing, especially since I thought I'd connected well with the team. Based on other reviews, I'm guessing that if I had been a white male or female, I probably would have been offered the job.
