First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DOWL.
Marketing Assistant
The first interview was on Zoom where I got to know the hiring staff and learn about DOWL as a business and what the Marketing Assistant role involves. The second interview was in person and included tours of the office and building.
- Describe your experience and expertise with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Do you possess knowledge of the A/E/C industry?
- What education and experience do you have that is relevant to the job posting?
Graphic Designer
The interview process took three weeks and had three rounds: a phone screen, a Teams interview, and an in-person interview with a 30-minute assessment test. They said it was an entry-level position but required 3+ years of experience. After interviews, an assignment, and traveling in bad weather, I got a rejection call from the Art Director. They chose someone with 5 years of experience for the 'entry-level' role. The process was frustrating, and it made me wonder what working there would be like if the hiring was this difficult.
- What are your five-year career aspirations?
Civil Design Engineer
It was a pretty straightforward interview. I first chatted with the project manager, and then I spoke with one of the team members. They were really trying to fill the role quickly, and since I was still in college, it just didn't end up being a good fit. It would have been nice to get some feedback from the project manager though.
- Why are you interested in working at DOWL?
Civil Engineer
Had a basic structural analysis test in both interviews. Very in depth questions about experiences directly related to the job description. Also asked desired salary, even with 3 total interviewers. Asked multi part questions, and questions lasted about an hour, after the 30 minute quiz.
- Can you explain how you balance personal and professional life, and are you willing to go the extra mile when needed in your work life?
