So I had two interviews before getting the offer. I was pretty nervous, but both chats went really well and I felt more and more at ease. They seemed to mainly want to get to know me as a person. As a creative, you're never sure how much they'll want to dive into your portfolio, so I was glad we focused more on what's next, with just a couple of questions about my past. It was a really different experience than I've had before, and I knew right away that these were people I'd want to work with.

Got an email the day after I applied. No phone screening, they just asked me to come in for an in-person interview. The receptionist does the scheduling. I talked to two people who seemed unprepared and hadn't looked at my resume. After the second interview, they said the other people for the day had to go to meetings and they'd be in touch. A week later, the receptionist sent a generic email saying they were going with other candidates. I get that, but I don't understand why they didn't do a phone screen or at least review my resume before setting up in-person interviews. It was a total waste of time to go all the way there just to tell them stuff they could have found out by looking at my resume. Very unprofessional hiring process overall.

The interview process at Doremus was poorly handled and unprofessional. It seemed like the SF office lacks a proper HR department, as the receptionist managed the interviews. My interviews were scheduled at the same time as another candidate's, which led to awkward small talk in a cramped and dated lobby. Many of the staff I was supposed to meet were unavailable, so I was directed to other staff members who didn't seem experienced in interviewing and mostly shared negative opinions about other agencies. I found out through my own questions that the company is not very progressive or risk-taking and didn't feel like a typical ad agency, even for B2B. Despite the disorganized interview, I followed up with thank-you notes, but never heard back. Two months later, I saw they hired someone with less experience, so I wasn't what they were looking for. Doremus showed little concern for their image and the office morale seemed low. My advice is to avoid them unless you're desperate.

I was contacted for an in-person interview, with no initial phone screen. I met with several people, including my potential direct manager. The overall experience was pleasant, and the people were nice. They mentioned setting up another meeting with more staff. I was asked to submit work samples, but after a few email follow-ups, I never heard back. I'm disappointed considering the time I took off my current job and the effort I put into preparing work samples. It seemed like a great place to work, but I know they've lost some major clients, which might have affected job openings.
