First, I took a current events quiz. Then, I had to read a fundraising script. After that, I interviewed with HR and a manager, and then I was hired. When you read the script, make sure you read the beginning sentences that are in bold. They are called the 6 points and have to be read for legal reasons before you start pitching. Also, the interviewer, playing the part of the donor you are calling, might interrupt you. Be prepared to make conversation and rebut the donor before you do the second ask part of the script.

I had to wait around 2 hours to talk to someone. They also had me complete two pages of questions about my history, charities I support, and spelling. The interviewer apologized for the wait and thanked me for being patient, but given I had to pay for parking twice and got there before 10 AM, it was the least he could do.

It was like a beehive in there with people trying to get the same job. They had a waiting room where we filled out applications. Then I took a test that was like an IQ test, asking about the executive branch, state capitals, and government leaders, and putting events in order. I met with the recruiter, then waited again to meet with other people. It was chaotic and didn't seem like a fun place to work. Even though I'm qualified, they kept throwing obstacles in the way, which was pretty lame. They're paying barely more than minimum wage. Sad.

I replied to a Craigslist ad for a Telemarketer I position that advertised $13-$15/hr, but it turns out to be $9/hr plus bonuses that *might* average out. Parking is metered and not provided, so bring change and extra time. They had me fill out a history/knowledge form with questions about quotes, current events, and political figures. They stressed "active listening skills" and judging my ability to converse. They give you a script to practice, but the interviewer will interrupt and you need to improvise to build rapport, not just push the donation amount. They make quick decisions, so you only have one chance to get the script down. Natural conversationalists might do well.
