It started with a phone interview and then a video interview. The questions were pretty basic. I felt like my time was intentionally wasted though. The first phone interview was a 20 min casual chat, but then the second interview had four different interviews that lasted two hours. For a part-time job with the offered pay, I think they could do better with hiring. It seems like a lot of hoops and wasted time is the norm now. I hope Donegal will vet candidates better in the future before scheduling such long interviews, as it didn't seem like they were going to hire me anyway.

So, the first interview was kind of standard, with questions about how I've handled tough issues. But the new manager seemed to think my usual approach to problem-solving wasn't what they were looking for, even though I explained it. It felt like they didn't really grasp my experience. The second interview was barely even an interview; the main point seemed to be about supporting equipment not owned by the company. They only mentioned a preferred brand and that experience was a plus, but didn't give many other details about the equipment. I honestly wasn't sure what just happened after that one. The HR person who set everything up was great though – really professional and made me feel comfortable. The company's benefits look good and it seems like people stay there a long time.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process moved really fast and was super smooth. HR was great at getting back to emails or applications pretty quickly. They were really flexible too, offering both online and in-person interview choices. I decided to do my last interview in person, which was cool because I got to actually check out the company office. My interview involved a bunch of time slots where I talked with a bunch of different people from various parts of the company. I feel like I got a much better sense of how the company works and its culture from the interview.

I was contacted by Areanna and then had a call with her and Dylan from HR. They explained it was a 'discovery' conversation, not a typical Q&A, which helped me relax. They seemed genuinely interested in me and what I was looking for, and then explained how Donegal and this role fit with my aspirations. This led to an onsite interview with the Commercial Lines leadership team, which just confirmed the good feeling I already had about the company. It was an easy choice to accept the offer!
