First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Donaldson Company.
Senior Software Engineer
After going through several rounds of interviews, I was set for an in-person interview. But just two days before, they called it off saying the hiring manager was moving in a different direction for the role. Then I got a standard rejection with no feedback. Canceling a scheduled late-stage interview so close to the date shows bad communication and not much respect for a candidate's time. All in all, a really bad and messy hiring experience.
- How do you handle working under pressure
Territory Manager
The interview process is well structured, starting with a stage conducted by the headhunter, followed by a conversation with the company's HR for initial alignments. Next, there's an interview with the area manager, then with the unit director, and finally, a joint meeting between HR and the manager for the formalization of the hiring proposal.
- How do you rate your proficiency in English?
Talent Acquisition Manager
The interview process had 4 rounds in total. It started with a Recruiter call, then a Manager interview, and the final round was with 3 main stakeholders from HR. It was a nice dialogue, we got a lot of information about the company, and I could also ask my own questions. They gave a transparent view on what the job entails and expectations. Some competency-based questions were asked during the panel interview.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- What experience do you have that is relevant to this job?
- Can you describe your experience working for a US company in an international setting?
Administrative
It was a pretty standard interview process, with the usual questions like handling disagreements. The company seems very traditional and set in their ways, with all retirement-age males on the interview panel. If you're a younger job-seeker, you might want to skip this company. It reminded me of a coal mining company from the movies, and if you're female, expect to be mansplained to. It felt like they were just going through the motions, either not really looking to hire, having an internal candidate lined up, or needing to look busy for the boss/placate overworked employees by rattling off canned questions. I didn't get an offer, but it's fine. It would have been a 50/50 decision anyway. I'm just chalking it up as a practice interview. Luckily, I'm currently employed full-time, and the grass isn't always greener on the other side, so I don't sweat these things anymore.
- How have you handled disagreements in the past?
- Could you describe your communication style?
- What feedback on your work did you receive from your previous manager?
