Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dominion Energy.
Software Engineer
I heard back from the recruiter about 6 weeks after I applied to set up an interview. The interview was on Microsoft Teams and they asked some behavioral questions. I was told 6 weeks later that they decided to go with another candidate.
- Can you share an instance where you went above and beyond?
- What qualities do you possess that make you a good fit for this role?
- Recount a situation where you had a disagreement with your superior's decision.
Software Engineer
The whole thing was about an hour, and there were 4 technical people on the panel, all managers or supervisors. No HR chat or anything beforehand. It was pretty professional and informative, with a solid structure but also lots of room to just say what I wanted. I liked the interview and the panel.
- What's your approach to cutting down on human mistakes?
Software Engineer
The HR person said the interview process would be a panel interview with mainly behavioral questions. It was about 1 to 1.5 hours long. After the panel, I met with the hiring manager and the director.
- There was a quick round of rapid-fire questions.
