First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dominion Energy.
Engineer
I had one virtual interview that lasted about 30 minutes. I was interviewed by 4 people. The interview itself was fine, they just asked questions about my resume and skills.
- Can you tell me what you know about the electric transmission grid?
Engineer II
About 5-6 weeks after applying, I got a call for an interview. The first round was a video call with three people, lasting about 1 to 1.5 hours. They asked questions covering about 5-6 areas like planning, strategies, safety, and behaviors. For each question, I had to explain the situation, give an example, how I solved it, and what the results were. A couple of days later, I had a face-to-face interview that also included a site visit. During the visit, they showed me around their facilities and went over the work plan. They asked for my thoughts on it and my strategies for this role, plus how I'd approach the projects.
- What's your approach when faced with a new project outside your current expertise?
- How do you manage when you have to handle multiple tasks at once?
Engineer
The questions are all based upon situation and tasks. You will be asked questions to specify a situation and how you handled the situation. You will be interviewed by a panel of 3-4 supervisors that are personable and easy to talk to and will always give clarity on anything you ask or want to understand.
- Tell me about a time you demonstrated leadership and how you guided a team.
