After applying online, I got an email from HR and scheduled an initial phone interview which was more of a personality check. Then, I went to their NYC office for a second interview with a senior web developer. He asked me about web dev concepts and my tech skills, plus how I'd handle network latency. The third interview was over Skype with the Head of Web and a Tech Lead. This process was surprisingly straightforward with no coding problems, which they explained was unnecessary as my discussion of technologies demonstrated my intelligence on the subject. I was then offered a position, followed by a background check. I accepted and sent the paperwork. The interviews were casual and open-minded, giving me a great feel for the company culture, which I really admire.

I first submitted an online application, and then an HR person called me to set up a chat. After a 20-minute phone interview, she set up another interview with the company's sales director. The next step was a phone interview with one of the founders, and then I had an in-person interview with both founders. Everyone I talked to was super knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I also talked to some people online and on the phone before I accepted the offer.

I put in my application online on a Friday and heard back from an HR intern the very same day about setting up a chat with the HR Generalist. I chatted with the HR Generalist on Monday for about half an hour, and she then set up my second call with the Director of Operations for the next day, Tuesday. He and I talked for around 30-40 minutes, and then I had an in-person interview with the CEO on Thursday evening. I got the job offer on Friday morning. The whole process was fantastic, and everyone was so great; it was truly one of the best experiences I've had.

Applied online and HR reached out for an initial phone screening. Then I had a Google Hangouts interview with the hiring manager, which seemed to go really well. Afterward, I emailed HR about next steps for three weeks. They eventually said they'd have an update by end of day or the next day. I never heard back and assumed they weren't moving forward. Maybe my salary ask was too high, though they seemed okay with it on the phone screen. Companies shouldn't waste candidates' time.
