So I interviewed for this Playtime Associate job and it went well, I even got an offer. But then the communication after the offer was terrible. I talked about a full-time role and a start date with the interviewer, which was fine. They said there might be a second interview and I'd hear back in a week. Two days later, the GM sent me an offer, but it was for part-time and an earlier start date than we discussed. I told the GM I was excited but thought there was a mistake and asked if it could be fixed. He said he'd check. A few days later, I asked for an update and was told the interviewer would call me that day or the next. No call. I texted the GM again. He said she'd call me. Still nothing. I texted the GM again asking for communication, just tell me if full-time wasn't possible. The GM, who usually replied super fast, ignored me completely. I tried to be understanding because someone was on leave and they were probably busy, but this was too much. I felt like I was chasing them for basic communication after they'd already sent an offer. It’s not hard to say they couldn't offer full-time if that was the case. Their constant failure to communicate after sending an offer was unprofessional and disrespectful. I don't think a company that treats candidates like this will treat employees any better.

I actually came in during an open hiring event to interview. I had applied online with no response so I figured show up in person. Interview was great, they asked good questions explained a lot about the company. They said they wanted me to move on to next level of interview process and that I'd hear from either them of their hire up. Unfortunately I never did hear back despite several attempts to reach out. It was really to bad because I was very excited at the idea of working for this company. Oh well, guess it just wasn't meant to be.

The hiring process at Dogtopia usually starts with a phone call, then you might have an in-person interview and sometimes even a tour of the place. They usually ask about your experience with dogs and how you deal with customers. It can take anywhere from a day to a month to get hired.

Interview went great and I am qualified for the position, but they unfortunately do not pay a liveable wage. Wage cited was barely above minimum wage for the city of the store location. When I explained that would not meet the income ratio for most apartments, I was told “most of our managers live out of the city.” I want to work somewhere that doesn’t require a long commute or their employees to live in low income housing. I worry about the dogs because they won’t be able to hire qualified people at those wages.
