I had a good initial chat with the HR person who liked my background and passed me to the hiring manager. The hiring manager was smart and knowledgeable, and we talked for about an hour. I felt the interview went okay, though I wasn't sure if I totally aced it. He mentioned my experience with connecting data sources, which is actually something I'm good at, but I had been focusing on CRM experience since it was in the job description. After the first interview, communication just stopped. I followed up with no reply. About ten days later, I got an interview request from the hiring manager. Like I said, the interview went pretty well. He promised to get back to me soon either way. During the interview, he asked about the AI tool we use for leads, and I couldn't remember the name offhand. I figured it out later and sent him a quick message on LinkedIn. I never heard back. I followed up with the recruiter again and got ghosted again. It felt like I just fell off their radar.

I had an initial phone screen with the recruiter, and then I was set up for an interview with the hiring manager. I felt the interview with the hiring manager could have gone better if I had the impression she had actually reviewed my resume and notes from the recruiter beforehand. When the first question from her was 'tell me about your experience,' I could tell she was not prepared. Otherwise, there would have been more precise questions about my previous experiences that would benefit the role, rather than all questions focusing on my current role. The hiring manager also seemed to have a somewhat frantic energy and appeared stressed during the video call.

So after some initial confusion about the timing due to time zones, I had a chat with a recruiter. It was a pretty straightforward conversation, but in the end, it turned out not to be the right fit for me. Their main goal was just to get a sense of my background.

I sent in my application online and got a response from HR fairly quickly, within about a week. Then, I had a brief chat with HR to confirm my background and education. After that, my initial interview was with the person who is now my manager; we talked about my technical skills and my personal background. Following that, there was a quick final conversation with the manager, and also some individual meetings with other team members. These one-on-one sessions were a great chance to openly ask about the daily tasks and the general work atmosphere.
