Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Doctoralia.
Sales
I had 3 interviews with different managers who were very nice. They asked me a lot of questions about myself, my career, and my inspirations. They also asked about my sales experience.
- Why do you like selling?
- What feeling do you experience when you close a sale?
Inside Sales Representative
The hiring process at Doctoralia began with salary discussions, but it got pretty confusing and disorganized. We talked about salary upfront, and they told me their budget and I gave my final number, and we agreed to move forward. The first interview with the recruiter was weird because they seemed confused about why I applied for the Inside Sales role and kept pushing me towards the Key Account Manager position instead. I had to keep steering the conversation back to the role I actually applied for. Then there was silence for 3-4 days with no update. After that, they rejected me, saying they preferred candidates who could close sales in one call instead of dealing with longer sales cycles. This reason didn't make much sense because my background in selling software and consultancy to enterprises naturally involves different sales cycles. The strangest part is that just a few weeks later, they reopened the same Inside Sales role. It made their rejection seem even more questionable, especially since they said they found better-suited candidates. It felt contradictory because they agreed to my salary expectations but then rejected me for a reason that didn't fit my experience. They also spent the interview trying to get me to apply for a different job instead of focusing on the one I applied for. The whole process lacked clarity, with long silences before a sudden rejection. And then reopening the role so soon after rejecting me just added to the confusion. On the plus side, the company seems to have a strong market presence, and the recruiter was friendly even though the process was messy.
- What motivates you to apply for this role?
- Can you describe your relevant experience?
- What's your experience with closing sales in a single call?
Inside Sales
The HR interview was very smooth, but the leadership interview left a lot to be desired. They sent material for us to present excellently the sales process of doctoralia's service to the leadership, without us having any notion of how the service process is done. They say they will analyze the sales technique itself, but it's all a lie, it was one of the worst experiences I've had in a selection process, and I confirm it with what I've been reading in the reviews here on Glassdoor.
