I applied for a Product Designer position at TuoTempo. The process involved a take-home assignment, followed by a 1-hour HR interview. HR was great with communication, answering questions and explaining the steps. The take-home assignment included a design critique and a high-fidelity mockup. I think this extensive assignment should have been moved to a later stage, as it requires a lot of effort before even talking to someone about the role. It would be better to have a discussion first to align expectations. The HR interview was fine, but it was more about process and general experience, not a deep dive into the assignment. My advice is to have an initial chat before the take-home to better align expectations.

So first I had an interview with HR, then with the Design Manager. After that, there was a whiteboard challenge with three designers from DocPlanner. Then I interviewed with my Design Manager again and finally with the Head of Design. If everything goes well, you get a final interview with HR and your Manager to discuss feedback on your process and the offer. I really liked the entire process, they were very communicative and provided really useful, detailed feedback. The whiteboard challenge was fun, way better than doing a take-home design task. It's something you do live, lasts about an hour, and really shows your process and actual skills, giving you a sense of what they're looking for.

After applying, I was directly emailed that my application was not moving forward because they believed my seniority didn't meet their requirements for the position. I'm honestly glad they have this quick 'fail diagnose' system and that I didn't have to go through more tests or, even scarier, start a permanent role. I really hope their products and services provide more accurate experiences for patients and doctors. For context on my seniority, I have over 10 years of design experience for well-known brands, companies, and agencies, with more than 8 years in senior or principal designer roles, all documented in my CV and portfolio submitted to Docplanner.
