First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DNA Script.
Technician
Had two online interviews with my future manager and their manager. Then a full day on-site where I presented my profile to the whole team, followed by individual interviews with HR, potential colleagues, my future manager, and their manager.
- Technical questions asked.
- Questions asked about previous experiences.
Test Engineer
So for this entry level position, I had a 30 minute call with my direct manager, then a 30 minute call with a hardware engineer. They mentioned an onsite interview was next, but then they added a whole new step: a 30 minute presentation to a panel of interviewers, where it was 20 minutes to present and then 10 minutes for Q&A. They gave me guidelines beforehand, which was helpful. It seemed like a lot for someone just out of college, but they really wanted to see how I approach things. I felt a bit blindsided by the extra round, even though they gave me feedback and were nice about it.
- Can you explain your past work experience?
- What makes you want to join DNA SCRIPT?
- What contributions do you think you can make to the company?
Analyst
The interview process took months, with several phone calls happening over time. It took a while to schedule the onsite interview, which was very long, inefficient, and ineffective. There was a large panel, and some people seemed uninterested during the interview. The company appears to be struggling with making decisions.
- What about some behavioral questions related to failures?
Research Associate, Molecular Biology
The interview process was spread over multiple rounds. It started with a virtual interview with the Hiring Manager, followed by a half-day virtual panel interview. Then there was a virtual interview with HR, and finally, a full-day site visit. The entire process spanned over a month. While the people were nice, their responses and the overall pace were slow. They did share feedback once they made their decision.
- Can you tell me about a challenging situation you've faced?
- What's your approach when lab experiments don't yield the expected results?
