& Process

I had 3 interviews before I got hired. My first interview was a quick 'meet and greet' after I waited about 15 minutes. The second interview was longer, about 2 hours, where I was interviewed with another guy. It was cool to see what I'd be doing on the job. I got to watch a top sales rep close a deal, which made me really want the job. The third interview happened after the second, and it was a bit intimidating because the other person wasn't asked for a third round. I was nervous, but in the last interview, we discussed pay and what I could bring to the company now and in the future.

This marketing firm's interview process felt shady from the start. They don't even advertise their own company, with no sign outside. The office was really small, making it seem like there wasn't much business happening. Even another candidate in the tiny hallway waiting area thought it might be a scam. They only have one office for everyone to use. It also seemed odd that DMG had over 50 job postings, from PR intern to Sports Marketing, but nothing about sports related to DMG. This place appears to be a scam to get people to do sales, so I'd advise against interviewing here.

I drove over an hour for a 15 minute interview... all questions that could have been asked over the phone. He told me that the next interview would involve them introducing me to their "campaigns" followed by another interview. The "interview" was going door to door in Providence talking to customers about Verizon products. It's a sales job, not what the job descriptions say. The offer is $200 a week plus commissions. It felt like a pyramid scheme run by recent college grads. So unless you want to sell Verizon products door to door by yourself in Providence for extremely little money... run away.

I got contacted for an interview the morning after applying. The office seemed small and felt like a front with no real business going on. Their website and social media presence also felt like a front. The whole company had an odd vibe and the interview didn't feel on the level. It was short and simple, with minimal company information. The questions were odd, as if they hadn't reviewed my resume. At the end, I was told a second interview would be with a sales rep, which confirmed my suspicions of a bait-and-switch. Everyone was friendly, and they were personable despite being busy. It's possible I'm just paranoid, but it felt like a company that baits and switches. If I'm wrong, I let my suspicions cost me a convenient job. They seemed to do the opposite of those flyers promising big money for easy work, offering a hardworking, supportive environment without outlandish monetary claims. That's why I ignored the warning signs and tried.
