After a virtual interview that involved answering questions through video and written responses, I was asked to provide references BEFORE an interview was scheduled. I found this a bit unusual since references aren't typically requested until the very end of the process. The interview itself was quite average; it didn't really highlight the specifics of the role or ask how my skills would be applied. Many of the questions seemed to be pulled directly from my resume, but I answered them politely. Towards the end, the interviewer inquired about my preferred work location (they have two options nearby) and my ideal schedule (remote, hybrid, or in-office). I thought this was strange because these are details usually settled AFTER the interview process is concluded and a job offer is extended.

Got an invite for an online interview where you have to answer pre-recorded questions. That's usually a bad sign for me. It's a weird format that doesn't really let you get to know the company or them get to know you. I hope companies stop using these! I want to understand your culture. If a pre-recorded bot isn't how you'd describe your culture, then maybe don't use them for interviews.

The interview process was structured and formal. It started with a phone screening with the HR representative, followed by a technical assessment. Then, I had two rounds of interviews with the hiring manager and the team members. Finally, there was a panel interview with senior leadership.
