The interview process was professional and friendly, creating a comfortable atmosphere. They did a great job of making me understand the culture right away. We ultimately stopped the process because their hiring timeline at the time did not match mine, as I needed some time to wrap up some loose ends at my current employer.

So I had an HR interview, then after that, 4 hour-long technical interviews. All the interviewers asked questions that seemed relevant and reasonable except for one. He showed up with a recursive gotcha question, the application of which I have never seen in any of the roles I have been in. It was also something for which there are abundant performant libraries out there. That particular interviewer looked bored the whole time. So everything seemed good and then it ended up a no-go. Weird experience overall.

The interview started with a preliminary phone screen, followed by another screen with two directors. Then there was a take-home assignment, and finally two more panel interviews that lasted about an hour and a half each. It was nice meeting the team, but the HR department was really not transparent. They knew my salary from the start. I got good feedback throughout, but after the last interview, the HR recruiter called with an offer significantly lower than my current salary. Knowing they couldn't match my salary, I wonder why I progressed past the initial screening. I had another offer with a deadline, and Divvy asked for an extension on my decision day, forcing me to ask the other firm for more time, which made me look bad. They should have at least mentioned the offer would be much lower. It was a really bad experience, especially since I felt I fit well and was excited about the job if the offer was fair, but the ending was a huge letdown.
